CONDUCTING DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR FOR IRISH NATIONAL OPERA
It was such a privilege to be a part of the inaugural season of our new national opera company. Just fantastic to conduct this gorgeous Mozart gem of an opera, sung in German with a brilliant new English script by Caroline Staunton, who was also making her Irish directorial debut with the production.
Huge congratulations to my talented cast of young Irish singers: Maria McGrann, Rachel Croash, Andrew Gavin and David Howes, who, along with actor Ross Gaynor (Mozart) brilliantly scaled the heights of this fantastic music.
It was such a joy to work with the world class Irish Chamber Orchestra - their commitment, and energy were extraordinary (especially considering we fitted the rehearsals and performance of Der Schauspieldirektor in between performances of Le nozze di Figaro!), but it was their sheer enjoyment of making music that made this such a special experience.
Thanks to Fergus, Muireann, Conleth and the team at INO. We are so lucky to have this in Ireland
