DISCOVER CONDUCTING:

A WORKBOOK & VIDEO RESOURCE FOR JUNIOR CERTIFICATE STUDENTS

A fun introduction to conducting developing musicianship skills, group performance skills, fine motor skills and much more.

Through movement, critical evaluation, listening and observation, this video/workbook resource brings the Junior Certificate 'Ingredients of Music' to life in the context of Conducting.

Students learn:

  • what exactly a conductor does!

  • to critically evaluate two performances of a well known piece of classical music

  • how to conduct a well known piece of classical music using gesture to show dynamics, articulation, character etc.

  • how to communicate their own improvised musical ideas through gesture to each a group of their peers as they vocalise.

  • to create their own score for a piece of classical music.

The workshop is ideal for first and second year music students building skills towards creating their composition portfolios and writing the programme notes for the JCT Classroom Based Assessments.

The resource is designed to be delivered by classroom music teachers and can be purchased from https://iverniaarts.com/product/discover-conducting-jct-music-lesson-pack/
